The Great Himalayan Trail (GHT) is known as the longest and highest trekking route in the world through the remotest peaks of the entire Himalaya. The circa 1,800 km route chosen spans from the sacred Mount Kailash in Tibet in the far west and traverses across the full length of Nepal's Himalayan mountain range weaving between 8000 m peaks to Mount Kanchenjunga in the far east on the border with Sikkim. Cinders and I started this trek together and in 2025 I am attempting to finish it, to form a continuous line of foot steps across all of the Himalaya's in her loving memory to raise awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer UK.

Getting ready to set off today to complete the 1800 km Grand Himalayan Trail
Below is a picture of every thing I am taking with me on the Grand Himalayan Trail challenge, I will be trekking for the next 7 weeks solo / unsupported through the mountains carring every thing on my back including winter clothing, camping and cooking equipement.

Andrew, I did not know you before reading your incredible account of your GHT tribute to Cinders, I feel you know you now. That is some intensely beautiful writing and I breathed every word, having experienced my own freeing emotions on more public and lower elevation parts of the Nepal Himalaya.
